Farm & Sparrow is an Appalachian seed project, grain collection, and mill in Mars Hill, North Carolina, founded by baker David Bauer in 2006 and famous enough that Food & Wine listed it among the world's best bakeries. Since closing the bakery in 2018, the mill — housed in a restored 100-year-old chapel — devotes itself to American Landrace grains: heritage wheat, rye, and corn grown with small mountain farms and stone-milled to order to preserve each crop's aroma and terroir.

With plenty of grit and a whole lot of love, Round Mountain Creamery was founded in 2002 by Linda Seligman. Beginning with five goats and dream, our little big farm became North Carolina’s first Grade “A” Goat Dairy in 2008. Now with over 60 goats, we produce a wide variety of soft and aged goat cheeses for both home and wholesale use.

The 25 acres of hill pasture, barns and old farmhouse that we bought in 2015 are part of a much larger farm that used to span over 100 acres. The farm was historically a small scale dairy that milked Brown Swiss cows and sold milk to Biltmore Dairy in the early 1900's. When Biltmore Dairy went out of business in the 1960's the farm transitioned to tobacco and beef cattle.
