The Ort family settled in Long Valley (previously known as German Valley) in the mid 1800s. Harvey S. Ort, son of William Ort, had a farm operation on Spring Lane in the Schooley's Mountain section of Long Valley. In 1916, the son of Harvey S. Ort, Jacob W. Our "Belties" are grass-fed and grain-finished. We raise our cattle with absolutely no use of hormones, antibiotics, or steroids. Our steer are grain-finished on non-gmo barley. This year we welcomed 13 calves, all direct descendants of our prized bull, pictured above.
