The Gullah Farmers Cooperative Association organizes small Black-owned farms on St. Helena Island and the surrounding Sea Islands, a community rooted in Gullah Geechee agricultural tradition. Formed in 2010, the co-op grows produce, then processes and packs it in food-safe facilities to sell into grocery stores and directly to customers. The model pools resources so member farmers can reach markets they couldn't alone, while keeping Lowcountry farming knowledge in younger hands.
