Lexington Community Farm’s history dates back to the indigenous people of the area and, beginning in the 1640s, British colonial settlers. The Winship family took ownership of the property as part of one of the original land grants in Cambridge Farms, first grazing cattle and later farming for subsistence and commercially, until the late 1800s.
