Sherwood Orchards grows about 1,300 fruit trees on 26 acres and runs strictly u-pick — they don't ship. The season opens with sweet and pie cherries in early July, then moves through plums, prunes, pears and quince to more than 70 apple varieties by October. The family has worked this ground for over 150 years. Ladders aren't allowed, so staff hand out picking poles, and they take cash, cards and WIC vouchers.
