Longwoods Alpaca Farm raised a herd of alpacas for fiber on this Route 9 property from 2004 until 2016, when the last animals were sold; the farm itself changed hands the following year. The family kept working with their own fleece under the Longwoods Alpacas name, now based in Southwest Harbor, knitting and weaving yarn from the herd they used to keep here. The Cumberland barns are no longer part of the operation.
