Maine Alpaca Experience runs free walk-through tours of a working herd of roughly 35 alpacas at Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm in Unity, where visitors can watch shearing demonstrations and handle raw fleece before it becomes yarn. The company's two retail shops, in Unity and Northport, stay open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round and stock alpaca sweaters, hats, and yarn milled from the farm's own fiber.
