Wichita

Blood Orchards has belonged to the same Wichita family since 1871, growing peaches, apples, cherries, and sand plums out of a building that dates to 1885. Salt in the groundwater wiped out the original trees in 1984; the family began replanting in 2015. Peaches sell from mid-July into early September, and the Bloods now also run a taproom pouring beer and seltzer made from their own fruit.

Rose Hill

Meadowlark Farm Orchard and Cidery east of Wichita in Rose Hill is a peach and apple orchard, pumpkin patch, and hard cidery open year-round — pick strawberries, peaches, apples, and pumpkins in season, then relax in the tap room with hard cider or homemade root beer. The farm makes its own jams, salsas, apple butter, and mustard, and offers picnic shelters, a playground, and a disc golf course over hill, dale, and creek.

Conway Springs

Steffen Orchard has grown peaches and apples in Sumner County since 1983, with 60 acres of u-pick peaches ready in July and August and 20 acres of u-pick apples from late August through October. Cider comes out of the press starting in mid-September and runs through the fall. Call ahead for picking conditions before the drive out.

Whitewater

Regier Orchard has grown apples, peaches and pears in Butler County since 2005. Picking is by appointment only, so call ahead to check what's ready and schedule a time before driving out to Whitewater.
