The name points to peaches and pigs, and the Duyck family has farmed this area for generations. My Dad has raised Hereford cattle in North Plains, OR for 40 years and has passed his love of the land and animals on to me, his youngest daughter. My husband and I now raise our two young children on the ranch. This is now our home, as well as our children’s playground. Birkeland Farm began in 2014 as a collaboration between sisters Lynne and Lisa on a 70-acre cattle ranch in Beavercreek, Oregon, named for their Norwegian grandmother Josephine Louise Birkeland Moen. The farm provides naturally raised, grass-fed pastured beef, shares, subscriptions, bones, broth, and eggs — with free local delivery over $200, Sundays at the Milwaukie Farmers Market, and year-round stock at Bread & Roses Market in Portland.
