Shady Hill Gardens built a national reputation over more than 30 years as a specialist grower of geraniums and pelargoniums, shipping mail-order plants out of the Chicago area. The operation relocated to Elburn in 2007 under new family ownership and now runs alongside a broader nursery business — bedding plants, herbs, hanging baskets — with geraniums still the specialty that built the name.
