Our growing practices are deeply linked to our role as land stewards and neighbors. We are committed to agricultural practices that prioritize the long term health of our land, employees and customers. We rely on methods that improve soil health to combat weeds, disease, and pests. We use cover crop and we rotate crops. We use natural barriers, beneficial plants and insects, and disease resistant plant varieties. Herbicides and conventional pesticides? Nope. Not in our fields or our greenhouses.

Art's Berry Farm (formerly Val's Berry Farm)

East Longmeadow, MA

Art's Berry Farm on Parker Street in East Longmeadow took its name over from Val's Berry Farm at some point, a change reflected right in the directory record. Berries are the stated focus in this Pioneer Valley town near the Connecticut border; current hours and varieties aren't public.

Berry Patch, The

West Granville, MA

Johnny D's Fruit and Produce

Johnny D's Fruit and Produce has sold fresh fruit and vegetables on Washington Street in Brighton since 1994, when John Depietro opened the store with two employees. It's stayed a neighborhood produce stand instead of expanding into a full grocery, the kind of place regulars return to for quality and specialty items like sundried tomatoes. Kidstopia Blueberry Farm

Lakeside Strawberries

The Ideals Organic farming is broadly defined as a farming system that respects the balance of natural cycles and works as much as possible within those natural cycles. Practically for us at Many Hands it means that we use foliar nutritional applications, natural rock powders, vegetable meals, crop rotation, heavy mulches, wood chips, and corrugated cardboard, cover crops, and animals in rotation with vegetables and fruits. We extend the season on both ends with the use of unheated hoop houses.

Sunburst Blueberry Farm

North Uxbridge, MA

Sunburst packs seven blueberry varieties — Duke, Reka, Patriot, Blueray, Bluecrop, Bluegold, and Chandler — into roughly 1,025 bushes on a single acre in North Uxbridge, timed to ripen one after another through July. The Blueberry Bog

E. Sandwich, MA

The Blueberry Bog traces back to 1926, when J. Foxcroft Carleton planted blueberry bushes shipped from New Jersey onto his Route 6A property — the first cultivated blueberry bushes in New England. The bog still opens for pick-your-own picking each summer, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily, under current owners Steve Touloumtzis and Sally Winings. Route 6A runs past some of the oldest continuously farmed blueberry ground on the Cape.

Tree-Berry Farm

Scituate, MA

Tree-Berry Farm in Scituate runs two very different seasons under one name — blueberry picking in early summer, then cut-your-own Christmas trees and wreaths from Thanksgiving through December. It's a small operation built around those two windows rather than a year-round farm stand, so hours track tightly with whichever season is active. Check ahead before driving out in the off months.

Upswing Farm

Upswing Farm is a certified organic vegetable and flower farm in Pepperell, Massachusetts, farmed on leased land around MetroWest from 2016 until the farmers secured their own ground in 2021. The CSA share program is the backbone of the business — with on-site pickup, distributions in Holliston, Ashland, and Hopkinton, and a Wednesday–Thursday farm stand during the season.

The year-round farm store carries homegrown produce, curated groceries, prepared foods, and baked goods, plus a daily sandwich and smoothie counter.

West Granville Blueberries at Maple Corner Farm

Granville, MA

Maple Corner Farm has stayed in the same family for eight generations, working land on the edge of the Berkshires since 1812. Blueberry picking runs July through September, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and the self-serve farm store — open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. — stocks the farm's own maple syrup, grass-fed beef, and pasture-raised pork. At 1,400 feet, the property sits noticeably cooler than the valley below, which matters come sugaring season.
